Flower boxes on the deck

Today was a beautiful Saturday it is May 19th.  I managed to get my boxes on the deck done.  I went out early this morning to Walmart to buy some netting used generally to cover fruit trees to keep the birds from eating the berries.  I had read about it on line that some people use it in their plant boxes to keep the squirrels from ripping out their plants.  I met up against a few challenges one being how would I adhere it to the plant box.  I tired stapling it but the mesh is so fine there was nothing for the staples to grab on to.  So, I filled the boxes 3/4 full with Miracle Grow planting soil then laid the netting over the soil.  I took a pair of scissors then carefully cut small holes in the netting large enough to put the plants through.  It was tedious, ugh!  Then when all the plants were in I covered them with another layer of soil.  We'll see if it works!
Flowers in the boxes.  Pink and white wave Petunia's.  Scavolla, licorice, and a tiny little purple flower that I need to look up the name.
Here's a picture of the "netting" lets hope it works!
